STORYLINE
Today we are Warming Up before our games. Your goal is to follow the Coach and listen to instructions.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Run from baseline to end line forwards like a cheetah
- Run from baseline to end line side shuffles like a crab
- Run from baseline to end line backwards like a bear
- Back to dots and add high knees, toe touches and jumping jacks or other active movements to warm-up
EQUIPMENT
1 football per pair
STORYLINE
Today we are playing Forward Pass. Your goal is to catch a thrown football from your teammate and run to the other side and do a touch down dance.
- INSTRUCTIONS
- One partner will stand at the ten yard line and one on their dot.
- When I say, "GO!" the person on the dot, holding the football, will throw it to their partner.
- The partner will run to the touchdown line and do their best touchdown dance.
- We will switch on and off a few times practicing throwing, catching and running.
- After a few rounds, encourage children to try to move to the 20 yard line or further.
TEACHING TIPS
Approach: Remind children to have their eyes on the ball and arms ready to receive.
Safety: Remind children to be aware of footballs being thrown around them.
EQUIPMENT

1 flag per child
1 hula-hoop
1 hula-hoop holder
STORYLINE
Today we are playing Blockers II. Your goal is to see how many times you can run through the blockers (noodles) while still holding onto your football.
- INSTRUCTIONS
- I will select one person to begin with the football.
- Everyone else will be a blocker.
- Before the game begins, blockers will form a line with their noodles.
- When I say, "GO!" begin running.
- I will underhand toss you the ball and then you must run through the tunnel of blockers.
- If you drop your football pick it up and try again.
- Once you make it through the blockers, throw your ball through the hula-hoop.
- We will begin a new game once I select a new person to begin with the ball.
TEACHING TIPS
Approach: Demonstrate how children should run through the blockers while properly protecting their football.
Safety: Remind children they will not get hurt while running through the blockers.

STORYLINE
Today we are playing Heads Up II. Your goal is to catch a thrown football.
INSTRUCTIONS
I will divide you into two groups.
Before the game begins, line up single file behind your group's marker cone.
When I say, "GO!" I will throw up two footballs.
The first person in each group will run and try and catch the ball.
After you have caught the ball run to the end zone.
Put the ball back in the hula-hoop and head to the back of the other group's line.
TEACHING TIPS
Approach: Toss footballs lightly so that children have a greater chance of catching them.
Safety: Remind children to be aware of footballs being thrown around them.

STORYLINE
Today we are playing a Football Scrimmage. Your goal is to see how far you can run with the football before being tagged by a defensive player.
INSTRUCTIONS
- I will divide you into two groups - offense and defense - using flags to tell who you are.
- Before the game begins, the offense will line up shoulder-to-shoulder on the baseline.
- I will select one offender to begin with the ball.
- The defense will line up on the end line.
- When I say, "GO!" offenders will run as fast as they can to the end zone.
- Defenders will try and tag the offender with the ball.
- If you are tagged you must freeze where you are.
- Offenders can pass the ball to their teammates at any point.
- Offenders will get four chances after they are tagged to get to the end zone.
TEACHING TIPS
Approach: Have children play a couple of rounds before having them switch offender and defender roles.
Safety: Remind children to use two-finger butterfly tags only.
